$300,000 raised to send over 800 children to camp at second annual YMCA Charity 5K
More than 1,200 community members came together at the 2025 YMCA Charity 5K, raising funds to help send over 800 kids to camp next summer.
Toronto – September 27, 2025 – This morning, the YMCA of Greater Toronto held its second annual YMCA Charity 5K. The event at Downsview Park, brought together families, friends, and community members of all ages and fitness levels for a fun and inclusive run, walk, and roll in support of YMCA camps.
This year’s YMCA Charity 5K raised $300,000 and will help send over 800 children to YMCA camps next summer — 100 more than last year. Since April, participants have actively been training and reaching out to their communities to raise funds and help make camp a reality for children across the GTA.
“There was an incredible energy in the air today as we kicked off the second annual YMCA Charity 5K,” said Lesley Davidson, President & CEO, YMCA of Greater Toronto. “I’m deeply grateful to everyone who came together as a community to help send children to camp. Together, we’re giving children opportunities that will make their futures brighter.”
Every summer, the YMCA of Greater Toronto delivers camp programs at more than 40 locations across the GTA. The YMCA’s diverse camp offerings, including arts, sports and cooking, ensures there’s something to bring out the best in every child. YMCA camps offer children and youth the opportunity to explore the outdoors, learn new skills, make friends, and ignite their potential.
The event included several memorable moments from the high-energy kickoff, cheers at the finish line, and lively post-event celebrations.
The YMCA Charity 5K was made possible thanks to the generous support of presenting sponsor, Saporito Foods, and the help of more than 100 onsite volunteers.
