Testimonials

“I came to the YMCA Learning Opportunities Program because I had such great difficulty reading and writing. Although I was working, it was hard for me as I was always nervous that they would give me something to read at work. Then I started improving and enjoyed coming to the YMCA. I enjoyed the computer classes too. I completed my training an passed the provincial exam the second I time I took it. Today I am a supervisor and I give back something to the YMCA whenever I can.„

Esther

“For many years I was working at The Bay. One day I was laid off and decided I would retire early. Because of the time I now had, I decided to improve myself so I came to the YMCA. I came here to improve my reading, writing and math skills, but what I learned was far better. I learned to believe in myself. I realized that I was someone specials and had other skills than what I had used over the years in my job. I went into training as a Caregiver. Today I am out of retirement and enjoying the challenges of my new, different and exciting job.
Thank you for teaching me to believe in myself.„

Cherry

“It was one of the best learning experiences I had. The training was very helpful. I learned about soft skills and hard skills. I also understand the Canadian workplace culture. As a newcomer, it was a good process in finding a job. Some of my colleagues even got a job while we were learning. Thank you to the YMCA for everything you did for us.
