The YMCA of Greater Toronto has a long history of supporting student placements, guiding and mentoring the future generation of early childhood educators. Students who complete their placement at the YMCA have the opportunity to start their child care career at the Y upon graduation.

Receive your Child Development Practitioner certificate while working at the Y

Apprenticeship

The YMCA provides educators the on-the-job training required by Skilled Trades Ontario to achieve their Child Development Practitioner Apprenticeship Certificate.
We offer:

  • Sponsorship and hands-on workplace-based training to receive Registered Early Childhood Educator credentials
  • 1:1 mentorship with senior staff members
  • Access to bursaries and scholarships
  • Assistance finding placements and new opportunities
