Testimonials
“Joining NYLD has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I came in hoping to build my confidence, develop leadership skills, and connect with others — NYLD delivered all of that. The program gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and discover my true potential. It’s a supportive environment where I’ve strengthened my leadership abilities and formed lasting connections. I’m truly grateful for all the opportunities NYLD has provided. "

"I joined NYLD out of curiosity and to make new friends, and from the very first day, I felt at home. NYLD showed me I was capable of more than I imagined. Since then, I developed communication, teamwork, leadership, and professional skills that were very vital in helping me land my first job. Through NYLD, I also had the opportunity to intern with the NYLD Advisors and the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Marketing and Communications team. "

“I joined NYLD because of the fun activities, the chance to meet new people, and the welcoming environment. A moment that stood out was talking with YMCA staff about my personal experiences and feeling heard. I’ve learned to adapt my communication with different people, plan how to achieve my goals, and improve my time management. NYLD is a place full of good people and good opportunities. "

“I joined NYLD to challenge myself, build my confidence, and develop my leadership and communication skills. One highlight was having my pitch selected in a NYLD competition, which allowed me to facilitate a photography workshop for girls, encouraging them to tell their stories through photos. That experience showed me the power of believing in myself and the importance of community support. NYLD helps young people see their potential and gives them opportunities to use their voices in meaningful ways."
