Consider Tai Chi

If you've had a hectic week, it can be tempting to cut down on family time in favour of relaxation time. This weekend, why not do both? Spend your Sunday afternoon getting centered and refocused at the Scarborough YMCA's Family Tai Chi class!



What is Tai Chi? 


Tai Chi is a martial art form that cultivates mind, body, and spirit. You'll focus on your breathing as your instructor guides you through sequences of smooth, dance-like motions that promote increased awareness of your body and state of mind.

How will my family benefit?  


The movements you'll do in this class are slow, gentle, and circular, helping you relieve tension in your muscles and joints. The class is simple enough for everyone to get involved, but still challenging enough to put your balance, coordination, and mental concentration to the test. Tai Chi is entirely new to most people, making it an exciting learning experience the whole family can enjoy!


This family-friendly program also gives you a chance to meet other families with similar interests. You'll leave feeling refreshed, revitalized, and with some new friends!



How do we join in? 


The Scarborough YMCA's Family Tai Chi class is a drop in program, so all you have to do is show up! This popular class is held in the full gym from 1:30 - 3:30 pm on Sundays. Bring comfortable workout wear that will let you stretch out and try all of these new movements.


Even if you usually go to a different YMCA, you can still experience this fun family program at the Scarborough centre! Your YMCA membership lets you access all 8 of our Health and Fitness centres across the GTA. How many centres have you explored so far?
