Labatte's Scholarship 2015 Story - Senegal
I am excited to have been chosen to participate in the Henry Labatte Scholarship Exchange. The last week has been full of goodbyes, congratulations and preparation for the exchange. The more I have researched about Senegal the more excited I have become to participate in this exchange (Did you know Senegal has a statue that is bigger than the statue of liberty?) I have travelled a lot in my life and have lived in different countries but it just goes to show there is always more to know and see on this earth. (which is great!)
I will be tasked with a number of tasks to prepare for the 1st African YMCA Ordinary General Meeting - OGM (May 31- June 7) that will bring together about 200 people from Africa and around the world. The key goals for my time in Senegal will be to...
1. Develop a communications and information gathering process
2. Develop an external and internal communication plan
3. Create a highlight video for the meeting launch.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to apply my process improvement experience, and international experience to such a great cause. I want to thank the Richmond Hill Employment and Community Services Team for all their support and for being such an awesome team!
I also want to thank Caron Jones, Ian Nyman, Esperanza Monsalve and Darlene Holowachuk for supporting my application and allowing this opportunity to come to fruition.
Throughout my trip I will be updating this blog periodically. Thats it for now! I have to go to the airport so I will see you soon!
A bientot!
