The spaces that make The Steve & Sally Stavro Family YMCA unique
Every YMCA is different and a lot of time and research went into planning the design of your Y to ensure it meets the needs of your community. The Y spaces are designed to be both functional and versatile to support a variety of healthful programs, and to offer an open, spacious and welcoming environment.
We are excited to show you the types of spaces that make up your Y and some recent pictures so that you can see how construction is progressing.
1. The Aquatics Hall
Swimming provides many healthful benefits and in this beautiful aquatics hall with large windows facing Kingston Road and the Y’s individual conditioning floor, you will feel that much more inclined to make a refreshing dip part of your routine.
Did you notice the gradual ramp for effortless entry?
2. The Pools
You’ll enjoy surprisingly fresh air when using the 25-metre lap pool, training pool, or whirlpool (pictured here) thanks to exhausts that expulse chlorine air from the hall. Our pools will allow for a variety of programming for all ages and stages.
3. The Double Gymnasium
Two basketball games are better than one! The gym will be play central, be it a friendly competitive game between friends or instructional sports for kids.
4. Studios
If you like the energy of a group experience, we’ll see you in the studios for group fitness classes such as YMCA Arriba, yoga, bootcamp, and more! Maybe you’ll even be inspired to become an instructor. *Wink wink*
5. Individual Conditioning
Your Y boasts a 6,450-square-foot space dedicated to individual conditioning. You’ll be able to improve your strength and cardio with a selection of free weights, weight machines, electric cardio machines, and even a functional workout station.
And there’s more!
Your Y will also feature a comfortable lounge area that overlooks the pools, express lockers for quick get-in and get-out workouts, youth spaces and more!
We hope learning about the spaces that make up your Y has made you even more excited for your YMCA’s opening day! Stay tuned to our newsletter so you can be the first to receive the latest news, promotions, and opportunities to get involved with your new Y.
We look forward to opening all amenities for members to enjoy, but because of COVID-19, some amenities may not be available when the centre first opens.
