How personal training can help you survive the zombie apocalypse
Since the zombie apocalypse is nigh, here’s what you should be doing to prepare (besides stocking your cupboards with canned nonperishables):
1. Kick up your cardio
Most zombies are pretty slow-moving, but I certainly wouldn’t be walking away from a hungry drove at a leisurely pace that keeps me barely out of reach. Your personal trainer can help you with interval training: a mix of high- and low-intensity cardio. Those high intensity segments will prep you to sprint away from an oncoming pack, while the low intensity ones ensure you won’t be too out of breath to pick up supplies and strategize about your next move.
2. Get functionally fit
You won’t want your heavy cargo bag full of supplies to slow you down, or you’ll quickly become easy pickings. Personal trainers love functional fitness because it’s their mission to help you do real, practical activities more easily and safely. Instead of teaching you crunches and bicep curls, which will be useless in a zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic wasteland, your personal trainer can guide you through compound movements that efficiently build strength, stamina, and agility. You’ll be able to scale fences, jump off barriers into a deep squat, and lug that cargo bag over your shoulder like a pro.
3. Learn to work as a team
Lone wanderers are easy targets for hordes of zombies. Find a friend no zombie would want to mess with and get them to join your small group training session. After working out together, you won’t have to rely on your fit friend for protection, but while you’re still in pre-apocalypse prep mode, their intensity and strength will inspire you to push yourself to your limit (just in case the threat of a zombie ambush isn’t motivation enough).
