Fernanda’s spirit earns her the first Sweat for Good Volunteer Champion Award
So how does she stay motivated to continue to give her time? “I do what I do because I love it!” Fernanda says. “The YMCA is my second home. If I were younger, I would do more.” As group fitness instructor, Member Services volunteer, and class participant, it’s hard to imagine that anyone could do more. But with a spirit like Fernanda’s, anything is possible.
Fernanda was selected to be the first ever recipient of the “Sweat for Good Volunteer Champion Award,” a tribute to West End volunteers who have demonstrated continued commitment, and dedication with their gift of time.
Sonia Machado, Volunteer Coordinator at West End, says that Fernanda was chosen as the first recipient for this award because she is a “hardworking, talented, and passionate individual who knows how to engage and inspire her participants in a fun workout. She’s always willing to go the extra mile and always looking to try something new. Fernanda reminds us that taking on new challenges is what makes life meaningful and fun.”
It’s the people who make the YMCA what it is. The West End community is thrilled to congratulate Fernanda for her spirit of generosity and devotion to the West End YMCA and community.
And yes, Fernanda, next time, we promise to bring bathing suits so we can join your class.
