Corporate volunteers give thousands of hours to the Y
Here at the YMCA of Greater Toronto, we have many dedicated volunteers who continue to help bring us closer to our vision of making our communities home to the healthiest children, teens, and young adults. We have blogged about the amazing contributions of our individual volunteers, but it is about time we shone a spotlight on our corporate group volunteers, who have dedicated thousands of hours over the years.
Corporations bring enthusiastic employees all year round to the Y to help assist with various projects that include farm work and other green initiatives, maintenance work, assistance with the Summer Day Camp Friday theme days, and workshop facilitation. Summer is an especially busy time for corporate volunteers. Last summer alone, 14 corporate groups volunteered, which brought a total of 219 people who dedicated 832 hours — equivalent to a quarter of all the corporate volunteer hours from last year!
So far this summer, in addition to Tangerine, we have hosted volunteering groups from corporations including BMO, GE, and TD Bank — with many more already confirmed for the coming weeks.
To all of the fantastic groups who have given their time to volunteer: thank you for all you bring to the YMCA of Greater Toronto. For more details about corporate volunteering opportunities, email volunteering@ymcagta.org.
